| WORKING CLASS PRIDE: OUR ROOTS, OUR STRUGGLES, OUR COMMUNITIES 3rd CAW Conference for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, & Allies April 30 - May 2, 2004 - CAW Family Education Centre, Port Elgin, Ontario |
Greetings!
We are pleased to announce that our 3rd CAW Conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) members, partners, and allies will take place at our Port Elgin Family Education Centre from April 30 to May 2, 2004.
Every local union is encouraged to send their full complement of delegates. As you know, many important victories and gains for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers have taken place in recent years. At our recent Constitutional Convention we reaffirmed our commitment to strengthen the rights and voices of the many new activists who have come forward as the result of our outreach and educational campaigns.
While formal equality is becoming more of a reality, there remain many challenges. It is important that our union stays at the forefront of these issues, and that our activists and allies have opportunities to come together to share ideas and build networks in the struggle for full equality.
Our union's commitment to equality can only be met with the total participation and involvement of our leadership and activists. Please encourage your LGBT, human rights, women and equity activists/representatives to participate in this conference.
This year's conference will focus on the working class history of gays and lesbians, how CAW workers make our own history every day by confronting homophobia in a variety of ways, and how we make communities for supporting each other and celebrating our victories.
The registration fee for this conference is $60.00 per delegate. Room and meal rates for the conference are:

All registrations for the conference and accommodation at the Family Education Centre will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. If the Centre is fully booked, alternative arrangements should be made by the local union.
