Mobilizing for a Workers Agenda
February 7, 2011, 10:00 AM EST
Mobilizing and building broad support for a workers agenda will be the focus of a special session of the CAW national's Union in Politics Committee coming up March 1 in Ottawa.
The Union in Politics Committee (UPC) special session gets underway on Tuesday, March 1 at 1 p.m. in the Laurier Room of the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa and runs until the evening of March 3.
Delegates will learn more about the national campaigns of the CAW and about issues that workers face each day, including the importance of fighting to ensure the economy works for people first and not corporations. Workers' priorities such as good jobs, the future of Canada's public health care system, pensions and other key issues will be discussed.
"This is also an opportunity for local union UPC Committees to share their experiences as well as pick up new tips to bring back home," said Jenny Ahn, CAW director of Membership Mobilization and Political Action.
All CAW local unions are encouraged to send participants to this special UPC session.
The registration deadline is February 16. Download the registration form here. For more information email email@example.com or call 1-800-268-5763 ext. 8464.
