CAW Reaches Deal With CP Rail
February 5, 2011, 9:00 AM EST
The CAW reached a new tentative agreement with CP Rail late last night after nearly a week of around the clock negotiations. The two sides were able to come to an agreement before the issuance of the 72 hour strike notice, as required under federal jurisdiction.
The two sides were facing down a strike deadline of Tuesday, February 8 at 12:01 a.m.
CAW Local 101 represents 2,100 shopcraft workers at CP.
The agreement enjoys the unanimous endorsement of the CAW-CP Rail master bargaining committee. CP Rail local union leadership will come in to Montreal from across the country to review the new agreement early next week, before going on to a series of nation-wide ratification meetings.
Details of the agreement will be released upon ratification. Ratification results will be released over the next three weeks.
