Today: CAW Rallies in Support of Locked out Airport Limo Drivers
January 10, 2011, 10:58 AM EST
CAW members and supporters will demonstrate today at Toronto's Pearson International Airport to demand an end to the lockout of 200 airport limo drivers, who have been off the job for more than a month.
The drivers are employed by McIntosh, Air Cab and Aaroport - all of which are owned by the McIntosh Group of Companies and have been locked out of their jobs since December 1.
The rally will start at 3 p.m. at Airport Road and American Drive in Mississauga and will then proceed to Terminals 1 and 3.
The company owner has refused to issue drivers the requisite provincial registration stickers, effectively locking the workers out of their cars and their jobs. CAW President Ken Lewenza said that the company owner has showed a complete disregard for the limo drivers, leaving negotiations after demanding an increase to already highly-inflated fees collected by the company.
