Peter Kennedy
CAW National Secretary-Treasurer

"Your determination, the fact that you have been out for two years faced with the consequences of having to deal with scabs everyday and not one of your members has crossed the picket line is a testament to the courage and trade union values you possess. And I want to reiterate to you our full support in your efforts to get a fair and just collective agreement. Our tangible expression of support as others have done here today, and on behalf of CAW-Canada I want to commit ten thousand dollars to your effort. You have the full support of CAW- Canada not only in your efforts to get a collective agreement but with the rest of the labour movement to work together, to band together in solidarity to make sure that in the future no other group of workers has to endure the kind of situation that you have faced for the last two years precisely because the company has the opportunity to use scabs."

Sid Ryan
Ontario Federation of Labour President

"When McGuinty was challenged in the legislature he said " we don't need legislation to deal with these kinds of problems." Well to Hell with you Dalton McGuinty, the labour movement is going to put this issue back onto the agenda again in this province. Every place they are using scabs we've got to have the labour movement out in numbers like we have had out here for the last three days. We've shut these bastards down for three days and we can shut them down again sisters and brothers. We can shut them down again, only the next time we're coming back in the very near future, we're coming back but we are not telling you what day we are coming back the next time."

Ron Balazs
CAW Local 707 Vice President President

"The CAW cares about everybody. This is a labour movement. This is a black eye for everybody, this strike. When they have scab workers coming into a plant when legislation is gone, this means that they can do this anywhere."

Judy Damaren
CAW Local 1917

"It's important for the CAW to be here to show solidarity with people all across Ontario, to show our support and just to be there for these workers who are without jobs, to me is a big help to them."

Sid Ryan
Ontario Federation of Labour President

"The contribution that the CAW brings is phenomenal. We've been missing the militancy and the progressiveness of the CAW for many, many years. It lends a lot of heft to all the fights that we are taking out. Both physically in terms of numbers but intellectually as well. You've got a great position on issues like anti-scab legislation."

Bruce Weber
USW Local 1-500 President

"It's just given us the boost that we have needed. It has been two years and our members have really been down and out and boy it has just lifted their spirits up. And I have a funny feeling that we're going to get this company to come back to the bargaining table because of the efforts of these supporting unions."
