CAW President Ken Lewenza will be speaking at the Rally for Life Line, to save the Yarmouth ferry service which will be held at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning at 1 Government Place (Granville Street), Halifax.
CAW members from across the province will demonstrate in support of workers who are losing their jobs because of the provincial government's decision to cut funding, ending the Yarmouth ferry service to Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine.
"We are calling on Premier Darrell Dexter and his government to reverse this decision so this ferry service can continue to run until a viable long-term ferry service can be put in place," said CAW National President Ken Lewenza. "This is a very bad decision, which will ultimately be detrimental to the region - Darrell Dexter's government must understand this." Lewenza will be making the trip to Halifax specifically for the rally.
