"If you are going to truly achieve the kind of social change that we want we must have a social charter to recognize fundamentally that labour rights and human rights are inalienable and governments must commit to the enforcement of labour and human rights in all jurisdictions of their country."

"We have to fight for space within our own organization as women. And if we are going to make change. If we are going to have truly democratic unions and you can not have democratic organizations without the fair representations of women. It is fundamental to a democratic society. So all our organizations have to look in the mirror and say "are we representative of the women who are the members of our union?"

One of the Canadian delegates Elaine White, of the CAW legal department, said the People's Summit has renewed the delegate's commitment to fight for labour and human rights throughout the Americas.

"Their fight down there is incredible and we have learned a lot from the way that they do protests and take on these issues. They have been fighting for a long time to keep what they have. And we will continue to fight with them, so it was international solidarity that we took out of there more than anything."
