CAW Education Conference, August 7-9, 2009
June 12, 2009, 5:00 PM EST
"Naming the Moment: Crisis and Opportunity"
There's no question we are living in difficult times. The economy is in free fall, capitalism is in crisis, unions are under attack by corporations and governments, and workers everywhere are feeling uncertain, frustrated and, in many cases, angry.
The 2009 CAW Education Conference will engage members to talk about what is needed from both labour activists and educators in these challenging times. By connecting with one another to examine the important role education has played in past struggles, we'll develop new tools and strategies to help us better connect with our members today.
Every local union is encouraged to send their full complement of delegates to the conference. Our union's ability to educate members relies on the active participation of all education activists and leadership.
Local unions are also encouraged to make every effort to involve young people, women, LGBT members and Aboriginal/workers of colour in their delegation.
Registration deadline: June 19, 2009
