CAW Local 3003 members at bus manufacturer New Flyer Industries in Winnipeg have ratified a new three-year collective agreement with wage, pension and benefit gains.
The new agreement provides wage increases of 3 per cent, 3.5 per cent and 3.5 per cent in each year of the contract. Skilled trades members receive an additional $1.30 per hour over the three years.
As well, a pension increase of $7 per month, per year of service, and vacation, benefit and shift differential improvements were bargained.
New Flyer is a manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses. The CAW represents more than 825 workers in the Winnipeg plant. Production workers voted 82 per cent and skilled trades 86 per cent in favour of the new agreement.
New Flyer CAW Plant Chairperson Dave Hiebert said the bargaining committee worked extremely hard to achieve this new agreement. He thanked the membership for their strong support.
"The bargaining committee's hard work and the overwhelming membership support helped us achieve one of our strongest agreements ever," Hiebert said.
