Workers Set to Demonstrate at Queen's Park for Severance Protection

After two days of rallies at targeted locations in the GTA, hundreds of labour activists, including laid-off workers, from across southern Ontario will converge at Queen's Park on Wednesday March 25 in a mass demonstration, calling on the provincial government to include a wage earner protection program in its budget on Thursday.

Workers will be travelling by bus from communities devastated by job loss, including former workers of Progressive Moulded Products in Toronto, Aradco and Aramco in Windsor, and other workplaces in the province.
CAW President Ken Lewenza and Toronto and York Region District Labour Council President John Cartwright will address the crowd, along with CAW Local 195 President Gerry Farnham representing Aradco and Aramco workers in Windsor.
Members of the media will also have the opportunity to hear from recently laid off workers faced with both a workplace closure and a difficult fight to obtain severance and other monies owed by law.
