March 22, 2009, 2:54 PM EST
Workers will hit the streets in a series of rallies and demonstrations throughout the Greater Toronto Area over the next three days demanding the provincial government include strong severance protection provisions in the upcoming budget on March 26.
The first rally will be held Monday March 23 in front of Ontario Labour Minister Peter Fonseca's constituency office in Mississauga.
CAW Save Our Severance campaign rallies and demonstrations in the GTA:

400 University Avenue
March 25, 2009 - Mass Demonstration (speakers will include CAW President Ken Lewenza as well as recently laid-off workers from across the province)

The CAW is calling on the Ontario government to establish a wage earner protection program that would work in co-ordination with the federal program and a number of other protections for workers that ensure they receive all outstanding monies from bankrupt or runaway employers.
These pre-budget rallies are being held just days after CAW Local 195 members settled a dispute over unpaid severance after occupying and blockading the Aradco auto parts facility in Windsor, Ontario.
