CAW Reaches Tentative Agreement with Air Canada and Aeroplan

The Canadian Auto Workers union has reached a new three year tentative agreement with both Air Canada and Aeroplan, covering approximately 5,000 customer service and sales agents in locations across the country. The workers are represented by CAW Local 2002.
"This is a prudent agreement which makes modest gains for our members in very difficult economic times," said CAW President Ken Lewenza.
CAW Local 2002 President Leslie Dias said that coming to a reasonable agreement with Aeroplan will give CAW members greater stability right across the Air Canada system. "I'm very pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with Aeroplan that will benefit both Air Canada and Aeroplan workers and cause the least disruption."
Members will vote on the contract at ratification meetings across the country over the next two weeks. Details of the ratification schedule will be released later today. Contract details will be available once the ratification votes are completed.
The current collective agreement expires in May 2009.
