Boycott Simmons!
Say NO to Simmons!
On September 8, 2008 Simmons Canada Inc announced that it will close it's Brampton, Ontario mattress facility, throwing 150 CAW members out of work. The company is refusing to pay these workers the severance and termination pay that is legally owed to them under law.
The Brampton workers are in shock. Many of them have over 20 years of service with the company. The most senior has 40 years.
The Simmons holding company is trying to walk away from their obligations to these workers and their families. It is the same holding company that left 2,400 non-union workers at Progressive Moulded Products in Toronto without severance or termination pay earlier this year.
The CAW believes this is completely irresponsible behaviour, and has challenged the company's decision before the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Simmons workers need your help!
Please support these workers by boycotting Simmons mattress products until workers have won their severance pay. Mattress brands include, Beautyrest, ComforPedic and DeepSleep.

Save the Federal Gun Registry! Say NO to Bill C-391
The CAW has joined with hundrds of thousands of Canadians aross this country calling on MPs to vote NO when Bill C-391 returns for third and final reading in Parliament in the coming month. Bill C-391 is a Conservative-lead private members bill intended to dismantle Canada's long gun registry - the existing government program that administers the registration of rifles and shotguns.
It's devastating that the Conservative government is trying to dismantle the national gun registry, with the help of members of the NDP and Liberal parties.
