CAW to Release Legal Opinion on Trade Law and Government Purchases of Canadian Products on Thursday, November 6

CAW President Ken Lewenza will release details of a ground-breaking legal opinion on trade law and government purchases of Canadian made products at a press conference Thursday, November 6 at Toronto's Sheraton Centre at 2 p.m.
Lewenza will be joined by CLC Secretary-Treasurer Hassan Yussuff and Toronto and York Region Labour Council President John Cartwright as well as Steven Shrybman, who authored the legal opinion. Shrybman is a lawyer with Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP and an expert on international trade issues.
Under Shrybman's analysis Buy Canadian policies are within the jurisdiction of Canadian governments at all levels to implement. He further indicates that Buy Canadian policies do not breach Canada's responsibilities under various trade agreements including NAFTA and those established by the World Trade Organization.
