This year marks the ninth anniversary of the creation of the Bud Jimmerfield Award, an honour bestowed each year upon a CAW health and safety activist.
The award was created in the name of Jimmerfield, who contracted cancer of the esophagus from his 30 years as an auto parts worker. Jimmerfield was also the president of CAW Local 89 and a tireless advocate for workplace health and safety and worker's compensation.
The deadline for nominations is November 7, 2008. The award will be presented at December Council in Toronto.
