Tim Carrie

Biographical Sketch

Tim began his career with Firestone (Accuride) in 1979 as a machine operator. His involvement with the union began with his participation in the CAW's Paid Education Leave Program (PEL) in 1984. Tim then graduated from Labour College in 1985 and became a CAW Discussion Leader in the same year.

Tim was first elected to the CAW Council in 1984 and has been a Council Delegate ever since, except 1996 through 1999. He was elected by acclamation as President of CAW Council in December of 2008.

In 1986, Tim was elected Plant Chairperson of Firestone and served in that capacity until 2002 when he was elected President of Local 27 representing 6000 members in auto parts, health care, general manufacturing and warehousing.

Tim is also the President of the CAW Independent Parts Supplier Council (IPS Council), a position he has held since 2005. Tim was elected to the CAW's National Executive Board the same year.

Tim has done an extensive amount of work as a community activist in the London, Ontario region and surrounding areas. Tim served as President of the London District Labour Council from 2005 to 2007.

Tim has been married to his partner Linda for 33 years and has two daughters and three grandchildren.
