Electro-Motive Employment Action Centre Official Opening Friday in London, Ontario

An employment action centre to help the nearly 500 workers impacted by the closure of London, Ontario's Electro-Motive diesel engine plant will officially open Friday, June 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The workers were members of CAW Local 27, who were locked out January 1, 2012 by Electro-Motive, a subsidiary of U.S. multinational Caterpillar after refusing massive concession demands, including 50 per cent pay cuts by the company. Caterpillar closed the plant, Canada's only train engine manufacturing facility, on February 3.

The CAW EMC Action Centre will provide services and support for the workers seeking new jobs after the closure of Electro-Motive. A number of former EMC workers will be available for interviews at the opening.
