Navistar Rally at Truck World Show
April 21, 2012

Toronto, Ontario
April 21, 2012

Roland Kiehne
CAW Local 112 President

"This demonstration is in support of Navistar truck workers, members of CAW Locals 35 and 127. These workers have been seeking a fair and equitable closure agreement and to date this company has failed to treat theses workers with dignity and respect. Let's march into the hall with the demand for a fair and equitable closure agreement."

Lonnie Labadie
CAW Local 127

"Why am I here? I am here try and get my pension and severance from Navistar."

Rick Reaume
CAW Local 127 President

"This membership has been sitting around for three years waiting for some agreement. Waiting for the company to come back to the table to give them the respect and honour the contract, give them their closure language, give them their pensions, give them their benefits. Navistar you need to come back to the table and give the membership the respect and dignity that they deserve. We need you back to the table so we can go on with our lives."

Nancy Hutchison
Secretary-Treasurer OFL

"This company has the money, it is just because they can that they get up and walk away. These corporations come into Canada they bleed us dry. They take tax cuts and rob the public purse with the promise to give jobs, keep jobs, stay in Canada and they pickup and leave."

Tim Carrie
CAW Local 27, President

"We are not going to stop fight for good jobs, we are not going to stop fight for healthy communities, we are not going to stop fighting for our children's future, and together sisters and brothers we can make change. Today our main goal is to get this damn corporation Navistar back to the table and give these workers what they truly deserve and that is respect and dignity."

Janet Siddall
CAW Local 127

"They owe us what's fair.>They want to go by their rules, they are not even following Canadian laws severance and pension, they want to do one or the other. That's not right, it's not fair."

Ken Lewenza
CAW National President

"Today we are having a show about trucks. Navistar is saying to Canadian businesses, buy our trucks. What I am asking Canadian businesses to do, is stand up for Canadians. Stand up for Canada. When you buy your trucks ask these manufactures why they don't manufacture them in Canada to provide jobs for Canadians and provide business the opportunity to succeed as a result of our spending power. So today it is a demonstration to say to the Canadian government you must say to the manufacturing sector that if you want to sell in Canada you must manufacture in Canada."
